About Me

My name is Komang Adi. I live in East Bali (between the internationally famous diving destinations of Amed and Tulamben). My family is here and it has always been home.
My passion is assisting people with their diving in Bali. I am a fully qualified SSI Diving Instructor and can teach scuba diving at all levels from Open Water to Deep Diver!

I also have a love of underwater photography and am sought out internationally to assist photographers who come to East Bali to take advantage of the wide angle and macro photographic opportunities.

FULL PERSONAL SERVICE
It's why I am different!!
One of the ways I differentiate myself from other Bali dive services is that I am a freelancer. I am not tied to any particular hotel or dive shop. I arrange all your diving equipment needs and transport you to all the recommended sites. I am more than happy to meet you at Denpasar Airport and drive you in my modern air-conditioned van to your chosen hotel (and of course, take you back to the airport at the end of your trip).

Most of my clients like one-on-one services but I am happy to teach and work with groups. Where necessary, I arrange for other qualified Dive Masters to assist.

I speak fluent English and, after many years of working with international clients, am familiar with the basics of numerous other languages. I can assure you that communication will not be a problem!

KNOWLEDGE OF ALL THE BEST SITES
After so many years in this area, it should not surprise you I am intimately familiar with all the best local sites in Amed and Tulamben abd other Bali sites. For those who like wrecks there are more than just the famous USS Liberty wreck (although that remains a favorite for many of my clients)!!

For those macro photographers or divers who enjoy seeing the smaller "critters" including hundreds of varieties of nudibranchs, shrimps, seahorses, gobies and blennies, I not only know the best sites but my international clients will tell you that I am an expert in spotting the most interesting species (even the most tiny of creatures) when we are down there!!
ALL EQUIPMENT ARRANGED
If you don't own scuba equipment or do not wish to incur the costs of bringing your gear on your trip then I will arrange all your needs

All tank fills arranged by me and, if you have the requisite certification, I will supply nitrox fills.
SCUBA COURSES AVAILABLE
As a fully qualified SSI Scuba Instructor (Reg # 74998)Â I can teach and certify you for numerous courses whatever your skill level is.
BASIC COURSES - OPEN WATER
Most clients who seek out instruction from me tend to be looking at the Open Water course which is the first real certification which will allow you to dive anywhere in the world.

These courses require theory learning, pool time (in your hotel pool and otherwise arranged for you) and in the open water. I love teaching beginners and seeing their excitement when experiencing diving for the first time!
FURTHER QUALIFICATIONS
To improve their certification, some divers wish to undertake Advanced Open Water courses which will, among other things, certify them for deeper diving.

Many divers also wish to be certified in using oxygen enriched air ("Nitrox"). The greatest benefit of this is that it allows most divers to remain underwater for a time greater than that available than if your tank is filled with ordinary air.
MORE ADVANCED
There are numerous other certifications you can seek, including wreck diving and deep diving. If you intend to undertake any of these, please let me know well in advance.
My girlfriend and I had some concerns about scuba diving but the Open Water course that Komang provided to us was the best thing that happened on our holiday! Komang was extremely patient and we felt safe all the time. The family atmosphere made learning very easy
I have dived with Komang for several years in Amed and Tulamben, Bali. He picks me up from the airport, delivers me to my hotel and arranges all diving requirements. He is a fantastic guide! He knows the location of the most spectacular underwater spots. I bring a camera with me and he is an invaluable assistant with my gear. GENERALLY
I enjoy helping photographers on their trip here. Obviously, any photographer will want to be taken to the sites with the best photographic subjects. I have worked with many of the world's best photographers and can take you places that the best professionals seek out.
BEGINNERS
I help people at all levels with their underwater photography. For those beginning their new hobby, i start by explaining the basics of taking photos underwater. There is more to it than simply pointing and shooting! I enjoy seeing my repeat clients improve their skills and post their photos on Facebook and Instagram!!
INTERMEDIATE
Even photographers with some experience wish to take their skills to another level. I assist both above and below water! While underwater I help with composition, adjusting settings and strobes. In between dives, my clients and I often review the client's photos and discuss any areas for improvement in technique. We also discuss photo editing possibilities.
ADVANCED AND PROFESSIONAL
I am sought out by some of the best underwater photographers in the word to assist with their diving in Bali. Apart from identifying locations and critters for subjects, I can assist with their equipment including aiming of snoots, setting up of tripods and other handling tasks. I know what I am doing, so I can be incredibly helpful.
PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT
I am familiar with all major makes of cameras, housings and strobes.
My clients use cameras ranging from compact, mirrorless and full DSLR.

I am often asked to help photographers (even advanced photographers) with strobe positioning (for wide angle) and snooting (for macro)

Where possible, I can assist in making adjustments and repairs when things go wrong!
MACRO AND WIDE ANGLE
Tulamben is recognised as one of the top macro destinations in the world. There are so many muck diving and macro sites. Critters include nudibranchs, shrimps and crabs of all kinds, frog fish, pygmy seahorses and many other seahorses.
In terms of wide angle, there are also great sites to visit, wreck dives (including the USS LIberty), huge hard and soft corals and fans, underwater temples and statues.
I am a Sydney based Dive Instructor and underwater photographer. On a recent trip to Tulamben, Komang acted as my dive guide. I was particularly interested in macro and super-macro as Tulamben is world famous for that. Komang's ability to spot critters is incredible!
